Family farm APG goes back four generations to it’s name-sake, Antonio Perez Galvan. Fatima, a farm owned by APG, is where Antonio’s great-grandson, Ernesto Perez, joined in 2018. Ernesto learned new processing and fermentation techniques that led to him winning the Cup of Excellence in 2019- kicking out the multinational in Coatepec that had been renting APG’s mill for less money each year.
Ernesto has since expanded to work with farmers from the surrounding areas that are very far from mills or purchase points. This led to APG opening it’s own purchasing station to pay the near-by farmers well and distribute quality soil and shade trees for their farm’s longevity. Today, APG is the official exporter for Cup of Excellence in Mexico.
This coffee is an APG community lot produced by various smallholders in Coasautlan, Coatepec, and Tepetlan. It has a rich, brownie-batter flavor with subtle notes of dried fruit and raspberry and a malty mouth-feel.
