Brew Better Coffee Master Class - The Water Class

In this class, you will take a deep dive into the impact of water on your coffee brewing. We will begin with some foundational chemistry to allow you to better understand the reactions happening during the brew. We will demonstrate a titration test to identify the specific mineral content of your water. And finally, you will create your own custom blend of mineralized water to take home.

To ensure a positive classroom experience, seating is limited to 5 people. Reservations are made on payment. Cancellations must be made one week prior to start of event.

Brewing Fundamentals

The purpose of this class is to familiarize you with best practices for brewing coffee at home. We will cover 3 fundamental elements of brewing: water temperature, brew ratio, and grind size. A solid understanding of these 3 elements will allow you to brew tasty coffee in a plethora of contexts. Participants in this class should feel confident taking classes on any of the specific brew methods, such as AeroPress, Chemex, or V60.

What's in Your Water?

In this class we look at the effect of coffee's primary ingredient: water. Water makes up 98% of your brewed coffee, so it is vitally important to the overall flavor. We explore the impact of water by brewing with a variety of store-bought bottled waters, Dallas tap water, and "bespoke" water created with a customized blend of minerals.

February Cupping

Join us on the first Saturday of the month for a coffee cupping! This is an opportunity for you to taste a few of our coffees, learn about their origins, and experience how industry professionals create flavor profiles.

This month we would be remiss if we didn't share with you our Ethiopian Guji natural, which recently won in the 2018 Good Food Awards. Along with that, we'll also be cupping a washed Ethiopian Guji from the same farm. And since we have a washed and a natural from one country, we'll throw in a washed and a natural from another country. From Indonesia, we have a fully washed Sumatra, and the ever popular Bali natural. Come on down! It's gonna be great!

FIRST SATURDAY COFFEE CUPPING

Happy New Year! Join us for the first Coffee Cupping of 2018 at the NCCR Coffee Lab this Saturday, 01/06! Cuppings start at 11:00am sharp.

We will be cupping some of our personal favorites. We'll have a wide range of profiles and origins for you to try. Alas, fresh harvests are arriving soon, and some of these coffees will be gone before you know it. Don't miss out!
