Colombia remains a hub for coffee production due to its young volcanic soil from the Tolima eruption which offers nutrients that cannot be produced or found otherwise. Legend has it that coffee originally spread to Colombia by way of the priest Francisco Romero, or “the father of commercial coffee cultivation”, who instructed parishioners to plant coffee as penance for their sins. This was then adapted by all the priests after the Archbishop of Colombia ordered it as so.
Dating back to the 18th century, Buesaco Nariño has embraced tradition by supporting its local communities through shared cultural, social, and economic values. Because of these shared standards and consistent excellence, this coffee has expanded internationally through the specialty coffee realm. Home to seven volcanos, the Buesaco area is lush with rich volcanic soil and high altitudes that contribute to the sweetness of this coffee.
Nariño is both warming and vibrant with a creamy, dessert-like mouthfeel. With tasting notes of all spice and dark chocolate, it’s the perfect companion for breakfast or dessert!
