2024 Good Food Award Finalist

The Good Food Awards announced Ethiopia Guji Kayon Mountain Farm is a finalist for the 2024 Good Food Awards!

The nominated coffee hails from the Guji region in Ethiopia, renowned for producing some of the world's most distinctive and sought-after coffees. Our ongoing partnership with Kayon Mountain Farm began in 2018 with our first GFA!

While determining the finalists 25 finalists for this year, judges looked for sweet, clean, well-developed body, balanced acidity and phenomenal aromatics. To qualify for entry, roasters and coffee farmers must emphasize fairness and transparency from seed to cup. Acknowledging the difficulties of verifying farm-level sustainability efforts across continents, the Good Food Foundation turns to third-party certification bodies for assistance in identifying beans eligible for consideration.

Kayon Mountain Farm covers 300 hectares within a 500-hectare expanse, the farm is managed by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family, with the support of 25 full-time staff and over 300 seasonal workers. The Guji region, known for its dense forests in southern Ethiopia, is celebrated for its distinctive coffee cultivation. Kayon Mountain Farm benefits from the region's elevated altitudes and nutrient-rich red soil.
